Imsys has been granted the Certificate of Green Partner by Sony

Stockholm, Sweden - September 22, 2003 - The Procurement Global Head Office, Sony Corporation, Japan, has presented its Certificate of Green Partner to Imsys, a Swedish supplier of hardware/software platforms for Java-based embedded control.

Information from Sony on the Green Partner program can be found at: http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/procurementinfo/procurement/en-procurement_green.html. It is stated there that Sony needs to build strong links with suppliers, and believes it is important for Sony and its suppliers to share policies, strategies, and technology. Sony established the Sony Green Partner Standards in July 2001, aiming to encouraging suppliers to introduce Green Partner environmental management systems.

About Imsys: The technology has an unusual background that has led up to an interesting fit with new requirements. While most of the well-known processor architectures now used in embedded systems were actually designed to be computers, the Imsys architecture was created for general embedded control in a real-time, multitasking environment with I/O- and memory-intensive tasks as well as specialized data processing. It was first used in a successful data terminal cluster controller, programmed in microcode, assembler, and Pascal - which was interpreted, like Java is today - and later in products that processed document image data, for scanning, display, and printing.

In recent years its special features and tools have made it suitable as the hardware core of a Java-based platform for Internet-connected devices, which is now the focus of the business of Imsys.

Sony was one of the first customers to use this platform, which is now available from Imsys and its distributors, both as an integrated circuit and a module board (the SNAP), together with the associated firmware, which includes JVM and TCP/IP.

The Imsys JVM (Java Virtual Machine) has been certified by Sun Microsystems, and the Imsys processor component has been certified by eCL (EEMBC Certification Laboratories).
